A new Smith

Postby Andrew MacLean » Sat 13 Feb 2010 3:42 pm

John announced on Facebook that he and Claire are now the proud parents of Lucy Ceri Smith: born on Friday, February 12, 2010 at 00:15 weighing in at 6lb 14oz (3.13kg). Mother and Baby are doing well, although Claire is still a bit weak after her C-section.

Congratulations to all three of you!

Thanks very much everyone for all your best wishes (and even cards from some of you!). Everyone has been very kind.

Lucy gave us all a bit of a scare by having lost 18% of her birth weight at 5 days old, so she was taken back into hospital to be fed up  . The poor little mite was being poked and prodded and having needles stuck in her arm. I will admit to finding that very difficult to watch, but Claire made sure that she was holding Lucy's hand through it all.

A couple of days later, she was allowed home again, at only 8% below her birth weight. :)

Now being bottle-fed, she seems to be doing rather well. We have the next health-visitor checkup tomorrow, so we are looking forward to reading those digital scales (accurate, but soul-less).

I've attached a couple of pics. More will appear on Lucy's web page at http://www.claireandjohn.me.uk/button if you are interested.

Thanks again,

John, Claire & Lucy
