Having recently lost a contact lens I called Moorfields to order a replacement Kerasoft IC for around £50 on prescription - I have a graft and KC. However, I learned that I was discharged from Moorfields without my knowledge and I now have to get my doctor to write to them, then get an appointment, before a lens can be issued- I reackon that process will take 3-6months. In the meantime I can't see!
I have a copy of my prescription. Does anyone know :
1) will an ordinary optician order me the lens?
2) can I just pay the NHS prescription charge of around £50 for the lens or do I have to pay the full cost of lens?
3) what is the cost of the lens?
If anyone knows the answers to the above I would be grateful for your advice. Thank you.

Re: Kerasoft IC private purchase only?
Hi Foster and welcome to the forum,
I don't think you'll be able to get a Kerasoft IC lens at the £55 NHS price unless you get it through a hospital eye department. If you contact Bausch and Lomb, which is now the parent company for these lenses, they should be able to tell you the cost of a lens and hopefully tell you of an optician near you who deals with Kerasoft lenses.

Hi Foster,
I hope that you have now been able to source a new contact lens.
There is a list of contact lens optoms on the website who fit keratoconus who may be able to help you.
