Advice

Postby kieran19685 » Fri 13 Dec 2013 9:16 am

After a bit of advice please

On monday i was taking my lens out and managed to clip my eye with the lens, been red since, i have taken my lens out for the day to rest it which helps reduce the redness but when putting the lens back in it become red again. The pain and sensivity to lights have decreased over the last few days.

Any advice? should i have it checked out?

Hi Kieran,
Yes, do get it checked out. You've probably scratched the surface of the cornea - what's called an abrasion and my experience of those is that it needs the lens out for 7 days or more to allow the abrasion to heal. But I once had an abrasion very quickly turn into a corneal ulcer, which needed treatment, so getting anything like this checked out is important.
All the best
Anne

I managed to get an abrasion a few weeks back and went to eye casualty. They recommended that the lens was left out for 10 days and I was prescribed two different eye drops as well.
