I can't see any problem. Assuming he has a gap in his appointments so you can fit it in.
Pack all the medications in your hand luggage (new unopened bottles). Take a copy of the discharge letter from the hospital. You should look at taking out travel insurance that covers existing medical condition it adds very little the premium. I would probably stay in Europe assuming you have a Europesn Health Insurance Card. I wouldn't go swimming (or at least keep the head out of the water and wear sunglasses to stop splashes) Good quality sunglasses are a must anyway.
My philosophy after my operations is to go for holidays when I can. Dont sit around waiting for something that may or may not happen.
