Fight for Sight, a charity which funds research into eye conditions, has just sent me this link with exciting news of progress in genetic research into KC.

Fantastic news that!
In future, could this possibly mean, if any of us hear have children, we can have their genes checked, and if they have the KC genes they can be worked on in future so they dont have to go through KC?

I hate to put a dampener on this....

I think there at least 30 odd genes that have had the same "identification". In fact there are a plethora of genes that relate to KC in different, unique ways. There really is no such thing as a "KC gene" - just genes that are in some way connected to KC. As yet, we cannot identify a "KC gene" for testing.

However, scientifically speaking, this is an important addition to our knowledge of how this condition affects people!
