Light sensitivity during operation

Postby ChrisW » Tue 05 Apr 2011 6:59 pm

I've had keritaconus for 35 years, worn GPL for 50 years and have had two corneal transplants and a cataract op in my left eye. Unsurprisingly my lids are now drooping to the extent that they're affecting my sight. I'm due to have a lid lift on Thursday at Moorfields under a local anaesthetic but am now concerned with how my eyes will react to the bright light as they have the usual light sensitivity! Has anybody else had this problem?

Welcome to the forum, Chris. When I had the stitches removed from one of my grafts, it was quite a long procedure (the stitches had been in for 3 years and were quite deeply embedded). I coped with staring up at the bright light by imagining I was lying on a sunlit beach - I went through all the beaches I'd ever been on! That strategy helped me - maybe others will have other tips. Do mention your concerns before they wheel you in.
All the best.
Anne
