Last stitches out!

Hi all.

It's been a while since I have been on which is good news as it has been going well...
So, my last 6 stitches are coming out tomorrow and I am a little nervous, more than any other time I have been in, I think it's because when these come out, I will finally know what vision will be my final vision.

I will let you know how it goes. Hopefully my vision will get slightly better and my ghosting that is spookily in the same orientation as my stitches will go too.
We will see.....!

Good luck with the stitches coming out, but give a week or so at least to let your eye settle. My vision in the right eye inititially went worse, but after a few weeks of settling it was much improved. My left eye improved instantly and stayed that way.

yip. i was told to wait 2 weeks before being fitted with glasses etc so that the eye can settle.....
hope the removal goes well. how are they doing it? in the opthamologists office?

Not very happy.
My vision is quite a bit worse now the stitches are out.
There is more ghosting and it looks like the astigmatism has increased.
I was so expecting it not to be perfect but at least a little better. So unhappy right now.

What you describe was exactly my experience after the sutures were removed from my first graft. It may tIe a little time before your astigmatism settles down, but be patient and, all things being equal, you can expect to recover useful eyesight.

Great that the stitches are out though. My astigmatism is really bad and my stitches are still in so god knows what mine will be like when they are all removed. I haven't got any vision with mine and has a -12 or something like that if i remember.

Hope yours settlers down so you can look back and say it was worth it.

As I said in my earlier post, vision in my right eye got much worse but once it settled I got perfect vision with glasses and as the healing continued I reached the point where I went for at least 5 years perfect unaided vision in that eye.

That is my issue at the moment KJ, my eyesight is worse at the moment than before it was done. I do hope it recovers and gets somewhat better.
The thing is that the ghosting is much worse... I totally thought that the transplant would completely remove any ghosting and i would just be left with correction with glasses or lenses. (the main ghosting issue that i am talking about is the irregular starbursts when i look at any lights.)

That is amazing that you had unaided vision Gareth, I hope i get the same.

Already today my vision is ever so slightly better, i can just about read my phone with my old glasses on, its even better when i tilt the glasses a bit, not sure why that makes a difference???? does it increase the CYL of the lens prehaps?
Unfortunately as my other eye had hydrops it is too poor for me to rely on it for sight and i am currently off work again until i can be re-prescribed, or magically it settles to perfect vision (well here's wishing)

Thanks for reading and telling me your experiences of this. It really helps to know i am not alone.

Hi

I just had the best opticians appointment ever today.

Basicly, after 20 minutes of the optician trying to determine my prescription and failing, he explained to me that as my cornea is so irregular a normal way of prescribing me wont work as the result will be subjective........so.......

He handed me the control of the electronic glasses fitting machine thing and with his instruction i was able to rotate the lenses to my hearts content and was able to get a really good level of corrected vision

Lens has been ordered so hopefully back to work on wednesday!!
