Has anyone experienced extreme pain on inserting their lens in the morning but once it's settled it's ok?
It doesn't happen that often to me but it really freaks me out when it does

Yes, I have always associated it with 'staining' on my eye, and when it happens I do just as Lea has suggested.

Re: Pain on lens insertion
could it be that you are catching the eye with the lens, therefore causing the pain, as you are inserting the lens? maybe worth a visit to your CL fitter make sure you are inserting your lenses properly (we all get into bad habits over time) if nothing else turns up. It very much depends on who you can get into see first but it would be worth getting it checked out.

Re: Pain on lens insertion
It's possible for the lens to go in at a bad angle and abrase the eye a little, noteably with RGP's, but it's something which doesn't happen every day. I wouldn't feel inclined to go to Moorfields unless it continued beyond 2 days

Re: Pain on lens insertion
SOrry to hear of the occasional pain syndrome.
'scuse me asking this, but are you sure you are cleaning off the cleaner thoroughly?
In tense pain on insertion that then wears off suggests to me it may be something to do with a fluidsolution - that then washes away with the tears.
A bit of lens cleaner, or something liek that, such as a sterilising solution not rinsed away totally, could be very stingy when you put th elens in, but then wash away with the tears so settle down.
If it's only occasionally, is doesn't sound like developing a bad reaction to the wetting solution - unless you use several different ones, depending what's handy?Rosemary

Yes that's a good point Rosemary, I am pretty scrupulous but I'm quite sure I must get it wrong sometimes. It could also be a slight scrap from removal the previous night too, it certainly makes me shout!
Just once [and my god you only ever make this mistake once] I forgot to rinse off the cleaner and put the lens in, OMG that was agony. I got through several bottles of hypromellose flushing it out I was damn scared
