Update time

Postby space_cadet » Mon 23 Nov 2009 8:14 pm

I thought I had better update you all incase anyone was wondering where I had vanished to

I collected the lens for my left eye about a month ago nearly now (rigght eye is beyond a lens being any use and waiting for a graft) haven't been able to wear the lens much due to every time I wear it within 5minutes my eye goes beyond bloodshot, can't see my eye just a mass of redness and extream pain, tried to use eye drops to relieve some of the pain - no use, so thinking I am alergic to something or got more problems - which sucks, how can I build up lens wear when this is happening? any suggestions welcomed.

I am back at the hospital on Thursday so going to mention it then.

Got the glasses I ordered a while back now, they arrived on Thursday ment to be to use to make reading easier for uni, well they kinda do but don't at the same time,

Eyes don't seem as dry as they have been recently which is good, not using as mamy eyedrops as I was, was ending up at the gp's every week for more but not been up in about 3 weeks now which I think is slow progress.

Uni is going really well, apart from my inability to see anything on the projector :(

what solution are you using? is it one with preservatives in? ifso ask you CL fitter for an alternative solution suitable for the CL you have been issued.

I'm using the preservative free one the CL fitter recomended as I am uber sensitive to anything with additives n preservatives in them. Just getting me down, as can't build up lens wear very well and know that my left eye needs some help, as decided against anything for right as no lens was working, so giving up with it till after the graft.

Do you have any idea how long you are likely to have to wait for your graft? Can they fit it round the University year?

All the best

I signed the paperworkd concent for the graft in August about a fortnight before I went to Scotland , prior to my wedding. Was told the waiting list is a year - 18 months :o - going to ask again when I am in the eye department on Thursday.

Tried again today to get said lens in left eye, no luck - sigh.

Got a meeting at 4pm at uni then meeting a mate then a event I have helped organise at 7pm.

Feel lowsy got a headache and pain in my eye for a change.

same here Lou as getting rather down over it.
Just got in, as been at the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer - you get the idea) committee meeting for uni, sat in tears for a bit of it as J gave me minutes from the last meeting in accesbile format, made me cry cos my friends are all incredible and try their best to help me out (shame the lecturers aren't the same)
got a full day of lectures tomororrow then some errands to do in town, hope my eyes attempt to behave if not if you hear any screams then they are likely to be me.
