Wedding post - a few pics for you all

Postby space_cadet » Mon 14 Sep 2009 9:25 pm

So I vanished around Aug 24th from memory and went to Ben's folks in Scotland. A running around, being fed very well, sleeping a fair bit, but relaxing few days running upto the wedding.

On Sat 29th Aug a good number of my friends who are in Scotland and couldn't come down south for my hen night plus all our joint friends (which wasnt' very many) were ment to be going to TGI Friday's in Glasgow, but as I was asked to 'speak Scotish' as the person taking my call 'doesnt understand English accents' we ended up in Pizza Express which was lovely, my best friends parents live in South Africa and were amongst our wedding guests, they went to collect my best friends lil sis from the airport mid evening then came in to drop her off (best friend and her sister along with my 11 year old cousin were our bridesmaids, well the 2 older ones were helping hold our Chuppah <Ben and I areboth Liberal Jews and had a Jewish ceremony>

Sunday morning I spent shopping with a few friends to chill out which was mainly a trip to Boots as one of them had forgotten to bring somestuff with her.

Met up with our friend but also Rabbi Mark at lunchtime, and my parents then begun getting ready! (someone remind me never to ask my mum to lace a corset again, as she 'tried' but didn't lace me right so one of my bridesmaids had to relace me. Had my hair and make up done which went into a blur,

My dad claims I was the most chilled out amongst the wedding party, for once anxiety didn't nearly eat me alive and yeah I was actually very relaxed and calm, just kept trying to focus on things.

Only wibble whilst getting ready being my backpack with clothes for the 2 days post wedding was now in a different hotel and therefore my perfume wasn't iwth me, then mum came to the room I was getting sorted in with a box and card from Ben and int he box was some new perfume - Ben clearly is psychic!!!

The hotel had sent up some strawberries dipped in chocolate, and bucks fizz for whilst IW as getting ready which was really sweet of them.

Arrived at the ceremony venue (city halls in Glasgow for those who know it, and the recital room) and straight into a lift to a side room to prevent Ben from seeing me, whilst the Rabbi came in and blessed me said a few things to my bridesmaids before my best mate n her sister escaped downstiars to hold the Chuppah.

In time things got moving, ceremony was incredible, just thinking about it now, and walkking into a room filled with people who Ben and I adore and love us for who we are was magical, Ben's face was incredible, although I was muttering 'don't cry or I will startt and my make up will run' as I don't think there is a word for how he was looking at me, other than he says thinking 'wow my soon to be wifey'

I threw my bouquet to turn around to a wrestling match between my best friend (aged 26) and 12 year old american cousin who was attempting to grasp it for my 11 year old bridesmaid, never of them aware of what a scene of hysterics they were making for all watching, Ben and I thinking 'omg trust my best mate' and others just giggling as well.

Our reception was at Arta in Glasgow which is magical, then we got down to partying the night away. highlights include all the speaches which was short and kewl, my dad explaining how forthe lsat 25 years I had threatened to get married in my Leeds United shirt, he wasn't sure if I had snuck one on under my dress! , he also gave Ben and I all the credit as we found both venue's then my folks were sent on a road trip to check them out :p

Ben's dad's speech was awesome and inspiring as well, our best man who was Ben's brother was great and Ben was awesome getting a loud cheer when he said 'my now wife and I would like to like to thank you all...'

I was on a chair to Josh Groban's version of 'you raise me up' with friends lifting me and Ben saying 'watch her head!!' as it was a roomw ith low ceilings.

Ben did air guitar with the lads which was awesome to watch, Nivarna's Sweet Child Of Mine - they got my 12 year old cousin up with them whcih was great as he felt great and was still talking about it lastngiht when I spoke to him.

Our Rabbi did rounds of shots with other friends, and a good friend decided to do break dancing (badly)

A lot of our friends hadn't met till the wedding but it was as if they had known each other for years, as they were all getting on like a big family which was awesome.

Anyways some photo's ... if anyone wants to see more there are about 400 on Facebook and we haven't seen a lot of our pics as there are 708 on 4 cd rom's that my best friends family took, not sure how many that Ben's uncle who was our phtographer took, friends are still uploading pics to Facebook, my parents camera was in the safe hands of a good friend of theirs who took heaps,

Not a problem in the slightest, I have posted a lot of negative rants over the last few months it was a honor to post a positive one!
