Drinks with caffeine are probably not a good way to re-hydrate, although they will make you feel less thirsty. The problem with caffeine is that it is a diuretic (it causes increased passing of urine).

I wonder if you have ever tried other sugar free drinks that do not have caffeine?

You can get caffeine-free diet coke but diet coke is not a good drink and carbonated drinks affect calcium absorption.

She says....favouring the All-Cake diet...

Elizabeth that is really bad for you, fizzy drinks [even the diet versions] can contribute to the development of osteoporosis, and it makes you more thirsty as Andrew says because caffeine is a diuretic. I used to drink lots of diet coke till I found this out so I've taken to drinking more iced water and fruit juice.

NOw, an All-Cake diet sounds good.
Of course, we could go for an all-cheesecake diet. Thqt ought to be good for the calcium levels!
Though the people who think dairy product consumption isn't good fo their lens tolerance might be a bit torn there.

It is now 12.26 a.m. and I fancy both cheescake and a massive glass of coke. Thank you ladies!

On a hungry stomach, with dribble running down my chin, goodnight.

Good for you but I reckon the cheesecake is better for you than the coke!

Vic's lemon cakes get my vote, she has made them for me and I've eaten them iced and warm from the oven *Homer Simpson style dribbling*
