I contacted the DVLA about my KC and they said that Keratoconus is on their list of conditions where by which you should let them know that you have this condition where you have a medical consultant also no matter if you have enough vision to drive.
The DVLA will contact your medical consultant, and if he said its ok to drive already you have nothing to worry about. Your insurance don't care if the DVLA does not care and have not restricted your license in any way. (people can be made to take extra driving tests, eye exams, not allowed to drive at night etc)
Common conditions like depression are on the list, with things like diabetes which is insulin dependent you may not be allowed to drive large vehicles.

Re: Can The Doctor Report to DVLA
I have always decalred KC to my insurers and they have all said as long as I wear my vision correction just like someone who wears glasses for driving or contact lenses for vanity reasons there is absolutly no problem.
The Motor Sport Association are happy for me to have a competitors licence provided I wear soft lenses or glasses. For some reason RGP's are banned, but getting ever close to meet their requirements.
