Don't worry, I have had the same operation. Light sensitivity gradually gets away. It took me 2-3 weeks to get used to the sun (always with sunglasses, it is very important). Your visual acuity will get better as time passes, so calm down.

Thanks for the support. I hope the light thing gets better as I must work asap as I'm self employed no work no pay !! Im seing the Dr for follow upo this Saturday. I keep taking vit C pills and clear view drops.

I have had allergies all my life and itchy eyes when touching dog hair, cat hair, grass, tree bark, dust etc etc. I'm sure that caused my Keratoconus as I have been rubbing my eyes since I was a small boy. Anyone had the same thing and agree that this maybe one big cause of it or the only cause of it??????!!!!

I am not sure whether allergies are a cause of Keratoconus, or whether they are often associated with it. certainly eye rubbing is sometimes considered a symptom of the early stages of KC.

I HAVE ONLY REALLY HAD ITCHY EYES SINCE BEING DIAGNOSED WITH KC.......BEFORE THAT NO REAL PROBLEMS...I THINK IT MUST BE THE GAS PERMEABLES- WHAT A RELEIF GETTING THEM OUT AND RUBBING MY EYES IN RELEIF (I KNOW I SHOULDN'T)!!
SINCE YOUR POST I HAVE BEEN READING UP ON CXL, VERY INTERESTING READING ON THE WEBSITE YOU PROVIDED THE LINK TO. CERTAINLY OPEND MY EYES (PARDON THE PUN!!)

Ill let you know for sure. I moan a lot about the CCL or CXL that I had and I am lucky not to have had a graft (although I'm sure once healed sight is good with the help of contact lenses). I am not very impressed by the place that I went to in terms of support and info but then again it was not in the UK.

BTW I also tried those hard contact lenses and they irritaed the hell out of my eyes it was like having an insect stuck in each eye. Use eye wash and eye wash bath (I think Boots sell them or did when I was last in the UK) if your eyes are itchy. Don't rub them

I use hypromelose for itchy eyes. I get the little individual dose vials and keep them in the fridge. Whenever my lens comes out I drench my eye with cool hypromelose .. ahhhhhhhh .. it's better then chocolate!

I did not hear of that, itchy eyes the worse thing. BTW the doc told me to stop the antibiotics after my wife left a message on his anwser machine he phoned me today. She looked on the web and found that it can increase photosensitivity and told him that. Lets see what happens without it??? fingers crossed! I would like to be able to watch TV and go outside!!!

I USE THE OPTREX SOLUTION FOR DRY EYES, THATS GREAT WHEN IT FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE A FLY STUCK IN YOUR EYE.....WHERE DO YOU GET THE HYPROLEMOSE FROM AND IS IT CALLED THAT OR KNOWN BY ANOTHER NAME? CAN IT BE BOUGHT OVERR THE COUNTER?

You can buy hypromelose 'over the counter'. I think that the way I buy it is quite expensive, but if you need a prescription that would bring the cost (in Scotland) down to £5.00.

If you can tolerate preservatives you can get it much much cheaper. In fact there would be no point getting a script for standard hypromelose; it costs so little that the prescription charge would be very much more than the over the counter cost.

another popular 'artificial tear' is systane, but I have never tried that. I have used carbomer gel.
