Hi Lizb,
If your registrar has already referred you to Manchester, then hopefully you won't have to wait too long. But as Andrew says, you could ask to see your consultant, or, as Lynn suggests, ask your GP to refer you.
A lens option you don't seem to have had offered to you so far is scleral lenses - quite a few people here wear those successfully when they can't get on with rgps.
Good luck
Anne

Re: Ideas
Some updated news, I received a letter from Manchester Eye Hospital saying that they had received a refferal from my consultant and would be ringing me soon to arrange an appointment.

Re: Ideas
Well I have got my appointment at Manchester Eye Hospital this thursday (they originally gave me an appointment the day between getting married and going on honeymoon). Hoping that some more options are given to me as to alternatives to the glasses that i always wear - not vain but would occasionally like to be able to see to put some makeup on....
Anyone got any advice as to where we can park near the hospital?

Re: Ideas
Hope all goes well for you Liz on Thursday.
The nearest car park is the multi storey on Grafton Street (just around the corner) otherwise you'll have to walk a bit back down the road from the Hethersage Road multi storey car park.
The parking charges are :
* 0 - 30mins Free
* 30mins - 3 Hours £2
* 3-6 Hours £4.00
* 6-24 Hours £10.00

Re: Ideas
Well I collected my Synergyeyes contact lenses today, went opticians at 4.30pm, and miracles of miracles the lenses went in first time for me and whilst my eyes were stinging a bit that was more to do with my eyes being tired after being in the office all day, rather than the lenses not fitting well. I also got good vision from the lenses which i have never had before.
I am on the increase of wearing time now, and plan to do this initially in the evenings so i dont have to mess about at work with contact lenses, though hoping to be able to wear them for work next week. My contact lenses fitter has given me some preservative-free solution to try as well. I am hoping that these succeed as I am a bit fed of of wearing glasses when out on the motorbike.
Will let you know how i get on over the next couple of weeks with my new lenses and if i can resign my glasses to minimal amount of wear time I will be happy.
