New glasses prescription

I picked up my new glasses yesterday which are a completely different prescription from the ones i previously had (these address -5 astigmatism whereas my old ones were -3.5)
My corrected vision with these is now 6/6 however I am finding that the vision is very strange - for example when i sit down the table infront of me looks like it is slanting towards me. I have spoken to the opticians and they have said that my brain will adjust to this - is this true or should i be concerned?

From my experience, you will get used to your new glasses.

I had some glasses which did very little to actually help me see and initially I felt quite dizzy whilst wearing them. The dizziness soon went, and so did the glasses, into a drawer where they have remained ever since!

Many years ago, post grafts and post some complications the hospital reluctantly prescribed me some glasses which they told me I probably wouldn't be able to cope with (there was a very big difference in prescription for the two eyes at that point). At first I felt that buildings were toppling down on top of me out on the street and all sorts of other bizarre sensations. But after a few weeks, the brain did indeed adjust and I managed fine with them. Of course, if it continues to bother you, then do go back. But hopefully you'll be fine.

I've had the tilting problems since the stitches came out of my right eye - door frames etc seemed to be at a 30 degree angle. My Optician has gradually increased the prescription for that eye with 4 lenses over a period of about 8 weeks. I'm currently wearing lens no. 3 with lens no. 4 with full prescription to try in a week or so. A much better and less drastic solution than the insisions I was being pushed into at my last hospital visit in August. If you're struggling with a strong prescription try building up to it like I've done. The 3 "stage" lenses cost £100 in total.

I hope so, falling down the stairs is getting slightly tedious!!

Do you know how long i should be patient for, ive had these lenses for a couple of days now and i'm still a bit all over the place and am getting very tired quickly.

Its great being able to see the print infront of me but Im not sure if the trade of in co-ordination is worth it!
