waiting til it gets dark...........

I went to the optom today to ask why I am having probs with seeing at night, turns out I have a protein build up on my lenses, a bit of googling later and I realise that s whats been causing the milky appearance on my lenses aswell! I am now using Boston cleaner and seperate conditioner ( as of today anyway)
Quick question.....what do I store the lenses in over night? He did tell me but I cant remember now Maybe you could tell me what your routine is?

Hi Donna - clean with Boston cleaner, rinse off with saline, store in Boston conditioner. Don't see too well in the dark though. Need to eat more carrots!

Thanks Anne Do you have to carry the cleaner and conditioner and saline around during the day? My lenses do go foggy during the day so would need cleaned.

do you use any sort of protein removal tablet? I used hydrocare fizzy, and soaked my lenses in this overnight at least once a week. (I was using RGP lenses at the time).

We all react differently to lenses and some gunge them up quicker than others. Protein tablets should be used at least one a week according to my optoms and the longer you can soak them the better.

For a daily clean I use the Boston stuff, small bottle for cleaning, Bausch & Lomb saline for sensitive eyes to rinse the cleaner of and the Boston wetting/conditioning solution for storage. Bausch and Lomb protein remover and give them at least 4 hours soak before rinsing everything off with saline, give them an extra clean as for general daily clean and leave them to soak in the conditioner over night.

Every couple of months I will give my lenses a full 12 hour soak in protein remover and clean as above. Not a problem for me as I go one day a week without lenses anyway.

Since following the above I have avoided the alergic reaction I had to my lenses in summer 2005.

No I have never used a protein remover tablet, didnt know about them until this morning! I will get some as soon as poss and soak my lenses.
I was using an all in one cleaner and conditioner.
where do you get your protein remover tablets from?
I thought it was hayfever that was making my eyes sore and itchy, didnt know about protein buildups Last night the street lights etc did look clearer so maybe my driving in the dark problem is now resolved! I just thought my eyes were gunky/cloudy cos of my hayfever.
Its a learn as you go on thing isnt it? Good job I have you lot to 'talk' to

I find having a really clean windscreen helps with glare from lights at night.

Everyone cleans the outside with screen wash or when they wash a car, but few give the insides a thorough clean beyond hovering the upholstry and giving the plastic trim a wipe down.

Try Autoglym Car Glass cleaner inside and out and I bet you will be surprised at how much muck comes from the inside of the glass.

Thanks, I will give the windscreen a good scrub and have a look for protein removal tabs, tesco probably sell the window cleaner aswell My eyes dont feel as sore today, and the pollen is moderate so it looks like its the protein build up thats caused my problems! I have also done a fair amount of work on the pc today aswell.
