Graft Date For Left Eye
Went for a check up today all is going well but there hasn't been much vision change in my grafted eye since removing the stitches(although it seems pretty good to me!) So i am going to have refractive surgery on it in the future.
We also decided to go ahead and have my Left eye grafted and i got a date for the 29th october!!! so thats only nine weeks away
so that will mean both eyes done in less than a year.

Way to go, Anne.
All the best on October 29. That's just two years after my second eye's anniversary

Hi Anne
That's good news about the graft! Be thinking of you. And it must be a "good" day - I passed my driving test on 29th October.......er..........in 1971!!
But several people have mentioned "refractive surgery" recently - what is that? (or have I missed an explanation somewhere along the line!!

Hi Pat
This is going to be really basic
but refrative surgery is where you have two cuts put in the cornea one at the top and one at the bottom so that it changes the shape of the cornea and this should then reduce the amount of astigmatism that you have.
I hope that helps a little but i am sure someone can explain it better for you.

Re: Graft Date For Left Eye
Next you'll have Hari posting about mini-ARK which is a form of refractive surgery and from the information I gained when I explored having this done it is more precise.
Unfortunatly not done in the UK.

Re: Graft Date For Left Eye
Indeed, I was told that refractive surgery is any technique that changes the refraction of your eye. This could be cuts, (mini) ARK, RK or laser surgery.
My previous consultant discussed laser surgery with me but we rejected it on the grounds that it was too imprecise. I'm glad now, as my eye has settled down to a point (3-4 years post-graft) where it can see rather well in specs most of the time!

I thought I had already replied to your post, but I see that this string has zero replies. Oops!
I just wanted to say well done on your new date, and to wish you well with the surgery when the end of October comes round. I had my second eye done On October 27 last year.
We'll be thinking of you.

Re: Graft Date For Left Eye
Oh dear, my computer is all wonky. It looks like it is giving me a duplicated string.
I am sorry if I have broken something in the forum, but I am pretty sure that John can retrieve anything I have sent asunder.
Anyhow my good wishes, in this string and in the mirror that my system seems to have generated, are sincerely offered!
Yours aye
Andrew
ps thanks to everybody for an explanation of 'refractive surgery': the more basic the better, for me!
