Yeah, I know but before you all demand refunds on your tax, I should point out that the hospital is also NHS, so its not complete duplication! I still can't believe we have just about every kind of specialist there is, it seems bizarre, its hardly a battlefield discipline!

I like the navel comparison, Eddie. I know plenty of people who seem to constantly inspect their own navel, so perhaps its not such a bad idea! :D

Donna, I like your point too!
Its not as if he ever did give any vocational advice in the end. Oh, he did say not to dive in the Red Sea. (He was a bit mad aswell).

You'd be thinking: "Its dark in here!" On the other hand you could see around corners :)

Thanks for that, Pat
Of course you could be talking about your ear-lobes.

A bit of an update...
I went to see our occy health guy today, who deals with health at work issues. He happens to know the Consultant that recommended the graft. Apparently, he is very highly regarded. The Consultant is actually a civilian (ex-Navy I think) who is retained by the armed forces to see their patients as well as NHS patients for his area. I am going to be referred to Birmingham Eye hospital with a view to proceeding with a graft.
I am absolutely elated. A graft may have risks and and may not result in perfect eye sight but it is the only chance I have of keeping my job. I might even be able to keep diving. Before, this turn of events, I was looking at loosing my diving qualification and very possibly my job. This puts a whole new perspective on it.
Funnily enough, I had applied for a couple of jobs, thinking my days in the Navy were up. I didn't get one job because of the KC. The other two are still ongoing, but I had better call them off. I have to stay in the Navy at least long enough to see if this works!
I guess this will slow down now. I have to wait for the referral, a final decision and then if this goes my way, a waiting list. But I will keep you updated.

Matthew
I didn't think I could embarrass a naval man!!

On a more serious - but upbeat note, it sounds really promising news, and I am so pleased for you. Do keep us posted.

Pat,
You're right, I was just joking. But I'm more a leg man than a navel man

Donna,
Thanks, I'll keep you all posted.

Gareth,
Sounds great, I'm up for that. :)
