Small Problem

I was trying to blink my lenses out and the right one vanished up under my eyelid! The pain was awful! It took ages to get it out, any tips on avoiding this happening in the 1st place? Or removal tips please! I was starting to panic and everything I did hurt it more, I am now afraid to try again and used my trusty plunger last night. I have no problems with my left lens but the right one is a different story! Its hard to get it in and once its in hard to remove! It might be me, I have only been using lenses for a week today

Hi there hun! Oh dear that is a bad thing to happen and most people do panic so don't worry! Your lens cannot go anywhere though, it will just be stuck under your eyelid and can cause you pain as you found out.

Your plunger is an excellent way to take it out. If you don't have it handy then shutting your eye and slowly moving the lens back central will help as you can then take it out. This is only a good thing if your eye is watering though as you could scratch your eye. Some saline or eye drops can help as it can make the lens easier to remove or for it to slide down by itself!

Hoping that this doesn't happen to you again. I have had this a few times and normally when my lens is too dry so it gets stuck in the wrong place! It is very painful and I just need to take it out quickly, give my eye a rest and start again.

The trick is staying calm which is hard when in pain.

When this has happend to me I have gently held the eye lashes and pulled the lid forwards slightly and down trying not to screw my eyes up. Then gently massaging the eye lid so the lens moves down centres back where it should.

Unfortunatly this is all part of the learning process and the only way to learn how to overcome theses occurances is to let it happen.

Just echoing Sweet and Gareth really..

When this has happened to me before I've just tried to make my eye as wet as possible (contact lenses become very stubborn when dry) and stay calm.

It also helps if you have somebody close by to tell you which corner the lens has dived into!

You'll find that as you get more used to your lenses - when they are no longer new to you - that losing your lenses in your eye will happen less and less. Thats when you start to become cocky, start juggling with your lenses and then, ultimately, losing them on the bathroom floor!

Get back on the horse chuck.

Thanks for all the replies I will try it again tomorrow
This time last week I was struggling to get them in and my wear time was 4 hours so I think I have done well! 6 hours wear time the last few days and I can get the left one in and out again no problem!

I think that a lot of my good luck is down to my fab lens fitter! He really knows his stuff and these lenses have been comfy from day one
