afraid of going to my eye doctor

it has been a very long time since i have visited my eye doctor.the last visit he asked me to use a combination of hard and soft contactlenses.i have used them on nearly one month but they weren't comfortable to me.now i wanna visit him to check my vision but obviously i am afraid.i am afraid he will tell me that my vision may be deteriorated.i don't know what can i do if he tells me that i may need a transplant.

There is nothing to fear Eman, I know its easy just to say that, but have a good think about it, in what the trouble is and how it can be fixed in the leastest way with a good Dr is the best way forward.

PK grafts (and these days its not a given fact that you will need one at all just another fit of a contact lens is far more what could just be required) to me is just like the risks with driving, we all know what the risks are with driving yet is it "banned"? (taking a quote from another post) because the risks are so small we don't even think about it when we jump in to the drivers seat. Yes, you can and there is other modes of travel where risks are lower, but for someone who would like the chance to live "the high life" again when all the other avenues are closed then that is great you can have one.

However if an incident/accident occurs we get ourself's checked out and that is not even thought about twice usually for people who drive.

Just like when first learning to drive there is a period when your settling in to it and car insurance premiums are higher due to this (as they know) ...but as you continue driving you don't even think about it (and your premiums are lower as the risks are lower... very low, too low, to keep in your mind), and you know what the procedure is if you get in to an accident, although its something that is so small in the back of your mind that you don't even thinking about it for literally the thousands of miles you can travel in a life time, until its needed to be known about and your loved ones know what the drill is too,(its a given that most people know about as second nature in everyday life), as do everyone generally on the highways and by-ways.

Sorry for the use of the car as a metaphor it was the easiest way to explain.

It may be that the doctor will tell you that the time has come for you to have a graft; but it may also be that the doctor will give you better news. Whether the news is good or bad, your many friends here will want to support you, share your joy or burden.

I always worry about going to the doctor about my eyes.

I could of cancelled and then instead of worrying about what MIGHT happen I would be wondering WHAT could of been done to help.

So far I have been told on each visit my eyes have been stable and that has been the case for 3 years now. If you don't go you WILL missout on potentially excelent news.

The otherside is you say yuor lenses are uncomfortable, how will you get comfortable lenses if you don not tell him?

Be specific in what you tell him, it is more common from peoples posts here that the lenses need minor adjustment as a result of the eye having got used to the lenses. When you first had them, your eyes were probably full of tears making it harder to get the best lens fit.

Go for it, you have nothing to loose and everything to gain in my opinion.

I have a panic attack before every appointment about my eyes , but if I dont go then I wont know whats going on so I make myself go. Then I come here and talk about it then have a couple of days to get over it.
You need to know how your eyes are so you can deal with it, and if your lenses are not right how can you try anything new if you dont go and see them?

What you have to remember is that even if they say you need a graft you don't have to have one IF YOU DON'T WANT TO but atleast you will know what is going on with your eyes.

I stopped going to hospital appointments for 3 years and i got nowhere!!!!
