The new Employment Campaigns Officer at RNIB has contacted us about a conference he is organising for employers on 25th May about employment retention. He wants to achieve a statutory right for a person with sight loss to have the right to an assessment to evaluate their capacity to do work and then rehabilitation to allow them to adjust to their new circumstances. If any of you are needing to convince your employer that you can still do your job with the right level of support, you might want to encourage the employer (or HR personnel) to attend. Speakers at this half day event in London include the Minister for Health, Work and Well-being at the Department of Work and Pensions. If you think your employer would (or should!) be interested, you can download a flyer here.
