I just have to add my not inconsiderable weight to the "congratulations" posts now flying about.

It really is good that you're now well on the way to having decent vision again. It's really good to have good news to read, too. (There's a hint in there to any lurkers with good news! :D )

Are you going to continue to see your private consultant for check-ups on the graft, or has that eye now reverted to the NHS?

Oh, and remember not to over-wear the lens!! :)

Thanks :D

I'm still going to see my private consultant Daya but I won't be seeing the optom he suggested again. It is bad that I am back in Moorfields as I will have to wait a long time for appointments but they have found me a nice lens which I can see with!

Sweet that's really good news that you can finally see out of both eyes.

I'm also a patient at Moorfields. I wear RGP corneal lenses in both eyes. The right one is a Rose K lens - although the two lenses look similar.

I know it can takes ages to get that initial appointment but the results are fantastic. I get 15 - 16 hrs wear per day from their lenses whereas from a local specialist the lenses just weren't right and were annoying me with an hour or two.

I now have a check up every six months and that's it - just like any other contact lens wearer. Except that friends can't understand why I travel up to London for a contact lens check - to them it seems like a waste of a day. I'd rather spend a day getting my eyes checked than having lots of bad eye days from ill fitting lenses.

Val,

I really hope you do as well! I had so many problems with loose stitches and was so paranoid about it, but it has all been well worth it! :D

Awwww is it that time again?!!!!! I so don't want to take this lens out as it is sooo nice! Hurt when I put it in but five minutes later it was all ok!

I have never found a lens which could sit on my left eye before so never made it past half an hour of real pain. Then I had so much scarring that I couldn't see anything anyway so had to have a graft!!

Hhmm ... ok am going to watch the highlights on the news and then take this lens out.

Hehe being good, can I please put this on record?!!! :P

Hehe....

Congrats Claire!! And good to see you are being "good"! Which I am sure is hard work seeing as the lens is so comfortable.

The reason you are feeeling so wonderful is that (despite you saying you never had good vision in that eye) before KC really got going you had good vision out of both eyes and therefore had good stereoscopic vision (ie depth perception)

Since that time obviously you have been managing on one eye and 2 dimensional vision. Suddenly, you get back your 3D vision and its like going to a 3D film... everything stands out and looks brilliant!

So one warning.. as your brain adjusts, this WOW feeling will subside. This can be experienced as the vision not being as good but its simply the brain accepting the situation as normal!

Anyway congrats again as I know you have been extraordinarily patient (for you) with that grafted eye (ducks as Sweet throws easter eggs!)

Hehe!! I have been really really good!!! :D

I have never had vision with this eye though, as it was always lazy and was given glasses which didn't help. I have never really used it and has always seen just a blur of colour.

This lens is lovely and the nice thing is that I am forgetting about my other piggy back lens now and leaving them alone!! The only problem I find though is that I can see a slight blur on the bottom of my lens on the left side. I thought it was the edge of my lens but am not sure as this lens is slightly bigger than a normal RGP.

But am off now to take this lens out as it has been almost five and a half hours!!!
