Why would Piper need a self help forum in the United States when there is a perfectly good one right here that draws togethr experience of people in all parts of the world?

What I have noticed over the past couple of years, we are getting more foreign registrations.

Australia is a prime example, they have an active support group network, yet we are geting registrations and a sharing of experience which is most welcome.

By doing a google type search most people will not scan beyond the second or third page of results. It just happens we as a support group occupy much of the first couple pages which may account for so many foreign visitors who over the years have educated us on how KC is treated diffently in their respective coutries.

All of the other supprot groups I have found on line just have e-mail adresses and from the web address ending it is not clear what country they are in.

The only US-based forum I can think of is operated by the NKCF. However, the discussions there have a much lower signal-to-noise ratio (think about it as if the chit-chat messages are mixed in with the general discussion ones).

The other drawback (in my opinion) is that they run as a mailing list rather than as a forum. This, coupled with the very high number of posts certainly put me off... but there are some real gem posts to be found there.

I think we're friendlier though :D

For my part, I am very grateful for the contributions here from people from other jurisdictions. Take Piper as an example: without his input I'd never hadve known that some ophthalmologists move very quickly to the removal of sutures.

It is a sign of the strength of this forum that people from all over the world, including some countries that are not on very friendly terms with each other, can come together and share their experience of KC, along with their hopes and fears for the future.

More power to you, John and Gareth.

Andrew

Pre-med and whisky, is that a medicine or a cocktail?

You know that I am right; even if it does make you a little self conscious. :D
