Help - taken too many drops!

Postby craigthornton » Fri 26 Jan 2007 1:22 pm

Am just on the anti-inflammation drops now following my graft. I was taking the second lot for today (out of 4) and was struggling to get a drop out, so I squeezed hard and a lot seemed to come out.

Is it best I don't take any more today, or just carry on?

Craig,

Quite simply with any medication where you think you have used more than you should, call the doctor.

In this case phone someone at the eye unit.

Hi Craig,

Don't panic, we have all been there! How much do you think you have used? What is the name of the drop? Does it says in the advice sheet what to do if you take too much??

You could rinse your eye and start again or see how your eye goes? Are you in any pain at all?

Any worries i would phone your eye clinic just to make sure.

Take care, Sweet X x X

The size of a drop is very subjective.

A fine piercing in the end of the bottle can produce a very small drop. A wider piercing can prodice a much larger drop of far higher quantity!

It also depends how steady your hand is as to how bigger drop you can get before through its own weight the drops leaves the bottle!

It is like saying half grain of salt is bad for you! Half it and that grain is now two grains!

If you are still on the single ampoules, then theye should not contain enough to cause halm.

Panic over! I am at work so don't have the leaflet, but rang my eye hospital. They said the eye washes out surplus and will only absorb one drop anyway, and to carry on as normal.
