Got a date

Postby Andrew MacLean » Sat 13 Jan 2007 4:01 pm

I have heard this morning from Gartnavel. They will do the cataract in my first grafted eye on February 14. My pre theatre visit is on February 6.

That represents phenomenal service from the NHS. A date that is tailored to my diary, and within 6 weeks of the problem being manifest.

:)

No chatting up the nurses because it is Valentines Day.

And your valentines treat will be having clearer vision to once again see the face of your lovely wife 8)

Gareth

I am looking forward to being able to see my wife clearly again.

As to chatting up the nurses; that is one of the privlledges of old age, whether it is Valentines Day or not. :)

Andrew

ps, Gareth, I have been following your kerasoft log. This is already shaping up to be a valuable archive for folk following you through this experience. I do hope that the string is not submerged in the lower pages of the forum.

Once I have completed my trial and made a decision I am going to take all the relevent key points so ther are as a single post in the FAQ section.

I will also include the questions people asked with their forum names as a set of questions at the end.

Andrew
That's brilliant news. Really pleased for you. (Still haven't found that Times article I mentioned though - sorry)

thanks all.

Lou: a local this time. I was offered a general, but for surgery as quick as this, I'm not sure that it is worth the recovery time.

Will let you know all when I have seen the surgeon on Feb 6. I am going equipped with a raft of questions.

Wow, Andrew, is that fast! If only the NHS could get KC waiting lists down as quickly as they've tackled the cataract ones!
All the very best for 14th - here's hoping it will be the return of wonderful clear vision for you again.

Hmm, my NHS date for my first cataract is not until 11/4/2006.

I had better not say what I want to say.

I have been offered 30 January if I have it done privately and as I really am up for it now, I may go for it.

In any event, I wish you all the best with your procedure, Andrew.

Finally, Andrew, off topic, a few weeks back, when listening to the football results on tv, the name of your team was called out as Greenock Morton. In fact, I think it was the Scottish Cup draw and not the results. Was that incorrect?
