Piggybacks

Postby denner » Tue 02 Jan 2007 5:45 pm

Hi all and a Happy new year,
Had my almost six month post graft check up today,They didnt touch the stitches in fact I spent most of the day trying lenses for the (other eye as I havnt been able to wear one on my right eye.Im going back to work on Thursday after 7 months off,So I really need a decent level of vision.Im trying Piggybacks
which after a nasty incident on the bus home lens came off the cornea and lodged in the corner of my eye!!) arnt that great, or that comfortable. Will I get used to it? And what is the best way to get the hard lens out?? I was hoping that this would sort me out but it feels like another dead end.

Its seems im a few months off getting a lens for the left eye so I really need this to work.

Does anyone else use Piggybacks: and if so help!!

I did try a piggyback, but couldn't cope with them. Your trip on the bus sonds dreadful.

take care. For those who are able to wear piggy backs they seem to be a great solution to the perennial KC problem. I hope that you turn out to be one of the people who manage with them.

All the best

Andrew

For removing an RGP lens from awkward positions I have what looks like a sink plunger for lenses. Got it from my local opticean for a £1. Ideal for y line of work should I need to get a lens out sharpish and I do not have time to take my gloves off of wash my hands.

Hey there!

I have to post about piggy backing as i find it brilliant! Without a soft lens underneath i would be going back to wearing a lens for five hours at a push before i was in extreme pain, now i can make fifteen pain free!

I find that once i get the soft lens in and settled well the RGP sits nicely on the top. It doesn't matter about cleaning two it's not that long!

Hoping that you work something out soon!

Hope you can get your lenses to settle down. It makes such a difference when you can start ignoring them for a while!
I like the plunger thing! I've managed to get my lenses stuck in the corner or over the top of the eye or underneath a few times now. Very painful! Its normally when I am putting them in or taking them out. Trying to chase the lens around the eye with my lumps of meat which try to the job of fingers can be tricky!

Denner,

I am a research chemist so have to handle all sorts of nast chemicals

If anything gets in my eye the lens has to come out quick in case it is more than a piece of dust!

Thanks guys,
Early days so fingers crossed it will settle down, My problem is unlike most KC sufferers my peak is very low making all contacts that much harder to fit.If I wear a soft lens and then an oversize lens on that my vision is unbelieveable i can read the last line of the chart!! but this combo is apparently damaging to my cornea.
