I am only a few days behind you, so it was interesting to read your post!
My eye is still gritty too, which I put down to the sutures. The redness has cleared up quicker than I thought so, and without looking close up you wouldn't know the eye had been through trauma recently.
I can recommend a cry to make the eye feel comfy! I got a bit watery during Casualty tonight (it would be nice to blame that on the stitches but it wasn't them!) and for a while after my eye was really comfy!
My wife may be going on the sofa tonight as she is not sleeping much - she thinks subconsciously she may hit me in the night even though I am wearing a guard.

Ellen died - she was searching for the woman who had killed Josh, and opened some doors to go outside - the initial brightness blinded her and she stepped in front of a motorbike. Died in theatre later. Josh seems to have made it through. The young girl woke up too.

The mum was just kept by the security guards/police.
There was some graphic scenes with the op on Josh, but not as bad as the graft transplant I started to watch on the conference DVD yesterday - ew! Worse than any horror film I've seen!

After reading coments on dry eyes and relating them to my problems, it was me that made the suggestion to my specialist. He agreed I had dry eye and showed me the results which showed it barely registerd that I had dry eye which is why he never said anything. We decided trying drops would be no harm but said from the tests he could not say which part of the tears I was defeicient in so it would be trial and error and cheapest start would be over the counter medications.
Due to past history of exzema nad asthema I thought the surfactant component of tears would be a good start as a similar thing is found in the lungs and sweat is not just about cooling but there arecertain oils in the skin closely related to surfactants.
The one recomended here was Systane that lubricates the eye. The surfactant component of tears helps the lubricating lipid layer flow across the eye in the saline tears that provide hydration to the cornea. So Systane helps mimic this and provides a barrier to help reduce the water loss from the cornea.
My specialist was surprised at the lvel of detail I went into before trying drops and the level of information and the methodical aproach I took but then I am a research scientist
