9 monthish update

Evening all.

Returned to see the consultant recently, almost 9 months post op.

Had a couple of sutures removed and can now manage five lines off the snellen chart!

Am very pleased with how things are going. Though my frustrations with the NHS appointment system are another story and are related on my blog (link in profile if you are that bored/interested*).

Other than that life is good, lots of stuff going on.

Hope things are well.

I am very pleased indeed, absolutely astonished - the vision with they eye is amazing compared to before.

I had a full graft in the end, the surgeon said that he wanted to do a partial but there were slight issues.

Apart from a couple of days of soreness due to slight inflamation I have had no trouble at all. No signs of rejection according to the consultant and in the meantime I see him again on the 28th Dec.

I haven't posted of late as I really have had nothing to add and with
all of the horror stories on the group from the doom and gloom merchants I have felt it is innapropriate to keep saying "well I have had no problems with mine" for fear of being lynched.

:-) Please note the tongue very firmly in cheek!

Blimey Paul, is it really nine months?? :shock:

Five lines uncorrected is fantastic. :D I think that's better than mine (I really must take more notice next time I'm at the opticians :roll: ).

I think you should post more about the positive side of grafts because if people only read about the things that can go wrong they don't get a true picture of the procedure and potential benefits.

Ive already ribbed him about that.....thsi kinda news is amazing and we need more of it.....as sometimes the posts on this board dont reflect the good outcomes fo what really goes on.....as those that post generally post about issues....

I guess that is because people with good outcomes don't feel that they need the support that the forum offers.

My own recently grafted eye is a case in point. everything is going extremely well, and within ays of the graft I was using it to read text down to 10pt. I did post the good news, but have not had any reason to post again since! Nothing has gone wrong. I have needed no special advice on how to cope with the range of setbacks that others have met.

Maybe we ought to have s special string, or even a new dedicated forum for exchaning good news!
