for a couple of days after my recent surgery my eye was very red and puffy. I went back to the eye casualty department and the ophthalmologist told me to increase the anti-inflamatory drops to eight times per day, and said that if the eye was not looking more normal in a couple of days to go back.
It settled down.
Should you be worried? Possibly not, but I'd still go and have it checked.

What you may be worried about is rejection? If so, that would be an very very ultra ultra case of Acute Rejection...which is extremely rare.....to give you an example...my consultant told me that acute rejection generaly occurs at the 4 weeks mark.....so if that was your concern....hope that helps
However, in the first 3 months, if you are unsure of ANYTHING id either call the Consultant (if you can) or visit the A&E as directed....dont take any chances........any at all

KC is about facing the challenges it creates rather than accepting the problems it generates -

Hey there hun! Nice to see you back so soon!!!!
If you have any worries at all i would go back, just to put your mind at rest! You do say though that your eye is STILL red, does this mean that it isn't a new thing?? Personally i would be more concerned if it was something new, or something a lot worse or i was just dam worried!!!
Hoping that everything will be ok, it does take a while for the redness and swelling to go down and we are all different as to times!
Take care hun ... Sweet X x X

All done
My eyes were very bloodshot for about a week after each op (though I had penetrating grafts in both eyes rather than DALK so that may make a difference). After a week, no one would have known by looking at me that I'd had any of sort of operation. But as others have said, if in doubt, always contact the hospital. All the very best with a speedy road to recovery!

Hi Anne,
It's good news that you're chilled out, but do remember the mnemonic for the signs of graft rejection: RSVP (Redness, Sensitivity, Vision change, Pain).
As your post-op redness hasn't yet cleared up, I'd ignore that one for a while, but if it should become more inflamed, I'd suggest getting yourself to eye casualty asap.
Rejection after a DALK though is very rare, but you do need to be aware of the signs!
Now you can return to chilling!
Hope you're resting and enjoying being fussed over!

Check up went well today and they are very pleased. vision not great but the gohsting has improved sooooo much.
Asked about the scrachy feeling i have in my eye and was told it is due to a couple of disovable stiches that have been put in and should improve in a week or so.
All seems to be going really well, really happy
