I emailed my local newspaper at the weekend, as they have featured peoples' medical conditions before and I know KC isn't that common.
They replied to say they would love to feature it and how it affects me, and to take my picture!
Replied to say that would be great but can only meet evg or weekend. Hope they can do that!
Only three weeks to my op now, gulp!
Local paper may feature my KC/graft op!

Thanks Craig - as Gareth says, every mention in the media means that a few more people with KC become aware that a support group exists and get in touch with us. And means that more people out there become aware that there is this condition with an unpronounceable name and stop asking us why we don't wear glasses!
And all the very best for your pre-Christmas graft.

Paper rang me back, they will do an interview by phone tonight, and also someone will come and take my picture tonight - shame I'm not photogenic!!
Thought about wearing my patch for the sympathy vote, but don't want anyone from the DVLA to pick up on it!
It will be in this Friday's edition.
I thought about pointing them to a website which shows images of how we KCers see things, but presumably those pics would be copyrighted?

Which paper will run the article for those of us who may be local to you?
Is there any way in which the article can be made available to us?
Cheers.
I live in Lincolnshire. The article MAY be on their website, I'll have a look after Friday.

Even if the photographs are the intellectual property either of an infividual or a website, the paper may still be able to obtail permission to use some of the images.
I'd give them the URL and let them sort out the copyright issues with the proprietor. If nothing else it will give the journalst a greater insight into your condition.
