Corneal abrasion

Postby Sweet » Fri 03 Nov 2006 3:15 pm

AArrghh! LOL!!!!

Ok ... feeling slightly better now!! LMAO!!!

Seems like my good deed yesterday in trying different lenses and getting photos taken in Moorfields has caused a small problem. I obviously couldn't wear a soft lens underneath as stain was needed to see the photos, so the combination of taking different lenses in and out and not being able to piggy back them has given me an abrasion.

Hhmm ...

I did think it was a little painful when i left and had to wait a while for the stain to disappear before i could put the soft one back in, but i went to see my optom today as arranged and she nicely had a look at it as it was red. I have a small abrasion but hopefully if i take it easy it will be ok. Problem is i am working tomorrow so i do need to wear them but am going to use loads of systane in between.

Am worried as this was the start of seven months of sick leave last year as i couldn't put lenses in to work but am trying not to panic!! LOL!!

Anyway ... on the grafted eye it has settled a little as it is a month after the remaining stitches were removed though it is a little steeper now. I am going to piggy back with it though so it is ok. Vision wise i almost make the driving standard at 6/12-2!! So it is getting there!

My new lens is getting delivered next week and i go back the week after to check on it so fingers crossed!!!

Hoping that everyone is getting good news! :D Just trying to think on my grafted eye and not the bad one at the minute!!!

Michael hoping that your eyes are ok after yesterday?!!?!! :D

That's excellent news about your grafted eye. Shame about the abrasion.

I'd suggest leaving the lens out for as long as possible (no after-work bevvies! :( for a little while) to allow the abrasion to heal. That way that you'll be doing all you need to avoid a repeat of last year.

Glad you're having another checkup next week though :-)

Sweet, I am sorry to hear about the abrasion and hope it heals without any problems.

Touch wood I am ok. The only side effect was waking up with a crusty eye. This usually happens when I wear my spare lens after not having worn it for a while. Not a particular problem.

I hope your evening went ok and wasn't spoilt by this.

Michael,

Am glad that you were ok! My eye is a lot better now have rested it and used loads of systane. :D

It didn't affect my night at all, i met up with my dad and little sister and enjoyed the large firework display at Clapham common! So i didn't want to take my lenses out then as it was brilliant!!

See you at the next social!

Sweet, how long after your graft did you begin to wear a contact again?

Did you have a regular eyeglass lens made before then? About when?

I'm just being impatient.....after waiting with KC since 1999 I just want to see PERFECTLY......and RIGHT AWAY......nothing difficult....

Thanks, Piper

Piper,

I didn't want to put a lens in my eye until after my stitch was removed. So I had to wait for 2.5 years!

I was wearing specs before then though, and was getting pretty reasonable vision (still do, sometimes!).

Unfortunately, I was unable to wear a lens for more than about 5 hours a day, so I remain with glasses... which on a good day get me just to the driving standard.

Piper i am only now starting to try a lens and now all the stitches have just been removed. I had the surgery a year last August.

Best of luck!
