Back again for help!!!!

I have so much pain, its just unbearable. I have told my consultant, he just replies, i should have no pain. I wear a eye patch to keep it warm as that eases the pain and the light. I also have viscotears for dry eyes and
take pain killers. Who is he ( the consultant) to tell me I should have no pain. Can anyone suggest a Kerataconus specialist, who cares, about their patients. Hariclia

Hi Hariclia

My consultant is Mr Owen Stewart (nice) I see him in Hull Royal Infirmary, however, I have only been to see him twice in 3 years, and he did not do my craft. I have heard that his team are pretty good, and the eye hosptial has a good reputation. My lens fitter has told me that there is a cornea consultant on call in casulty 24/7.
I had my graft done in Royal Berks, Reading hosp. The consultant had retired, but the team again seemed good.. I do know of an excellent contact lens fitter, but I am not sure were she is based now, Ms C Astin, I saw her in Reading.

Thanks for the info about the specialists.
Iam past having contact lenses, have tried in my right eye and that didn't last became to sore. my left eye well, thats had 2 graphs and I still can't see a thing apart from shadows. Do you know of any good consultants in London, thats where Iam based.
How far has your KC progressed??

Haricilia,

If your eyes are causing you cause for concern, then Moorfields Eye Hospital would be the place to go if you are based in London.

They have an eye casualty unit which I imagine is like the eye casualty units other UK hospitals have where you just turn up and explain the problem.

Usually you have to wait some time, but you will get seen.

It is also possible the eye pain is not directly due to KC.

An example is when I get a cold, the inflamation on my sinuses puts preasure on a nerve that gives me the sensation of toothache and that my contact lens is digging into my graft.

Removing the lens or going to a dentist will not make the pain go away, nor will pain killers (not over the counter ones). The treatment is to get the sinus inflamation sorted.
