Too many steroids?

Dry Powder Inhalers are limited by the number of blisters they can get in a small strip that is coiled up.

The presurised ones range from 30 to 120 doses but doctors are concenrned there is no indication to the patient og how many doses have been taken out. Everyone is working on a counting system that effectively prevents the inhaler working once it gets to its designated limit. Propellant may be left so the patient thinks drug is left when there is not any. Not what you wnat in a major attack!

There are quite a few dry powder in halers which you can get in pressurised form so if you are on them long term, these might be worth investigating.

Sure you have already checked the patient leaflet, assuming you can get the print enlarged enough as the technuque for using a dry powder is very differnet to the presurised unit.

Gee do they still make those?!! That was one of the first inhalers i ever had as a child and we never see them in hospital anymore. From what i remember of them they don't taste very nice either!

Dry powders more a preventative as they rely on the patient being able to breath properly. Pressurised units, as long as you can breath in help push the medicine down where it is needed.

Update:

Saw my consultant yesterday. She'd had me come off the Iopidine drops on Monday (but stay on the FML and Xalatan). Pressure in the grafted eye had increased to 24, but she wasn't too concerned. So she's leaving me on the current medication...

...and given the OK to proceed with getting the other eye DALKed.

Of course, here's the rub: for months now I've been wanting something to happen, and the moment it starts getting in arms reach, trepidation starts to set in again .

Still, I'll make the call on Monday, and the "new" surgeon will probably want to do another check before scheduling me in for a graft.

The race is oind. will John get his DALK before Andrew or will Andrew having left the starting block six months before John mean that he reaches the goal first.

It doesn't meatter. All the besdt John. I'm overawed by the prospect of surgery, too. Still afterwards it will be good to have it done.

Yes, C4S.....I WAS going to have it done next week!.However, due to my pending move being brought forward on Wednesday, work commitements, and a family wedding, I decided now to have it in T minus 11 weeks!. I have a choice beg of September or End of September.

Just hope it goes well!! Hopefully Ill have a better immediate post op experience than last time!

I am quite confident that Ill be able to get
back to work within 7 days post op this time based on the conversations I have been having with my consultant. But you never know!!
