4 weeks update and frustration

Went back to see the consultant today, managed 5-6 lines off the snellen with the pinhole glasses.

Mentioned that I have slight ghosting in the grafted eye - 12 and 9 o'clock if you see what I mean, consultant said we will look at that later on at the moment we want the graft to attach properly.

Consultant says he is very happy and to come back in two months.

Drop the chlorophololowhatsit and use Maxidex 3 times a day for the next two weeks and then twice a day after that until I see him next.

I then asked whether I am still banned from heavy lifting - he said "yes" and then added "look rest for the next couple of weeks and then you can start doing moderate exercise".

So now I am at home and wondering whether I could or even should go back to work next week, think I will see my GP and see what she says.

But in some ways I almost feel fraudulent - physically I feel fine, mentally I am not bored but getting frustrated and visually I know that I can't do more than a couple of hours at a screen and so yes I know what the sensible answer is - just frustrated.

As far as work goes....I would suspect that you could go back to work, judging from what you ahve said about your recovery to date....what do you do?....as in is it heavy lifting / physical work?

However as always...consult the GP

I sit in front of a PC most of the day - the rest of the time I lift lots of heavy boxes.

I can just about do 2 hours at a stretch in front a screen at the moment before the eye starts aching.

Well exactly.

Think I am just feeling frustrated because of the trapped feeling.

Working my way through audio books. just finished Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica and now have loads of other stuff to watch and listen to.

Yes it is all frustrating but it sounds as if your job can't really be done right now with all that lifting and you can't sit and watch a pc screen for long.

Take it easy, which is easier said than done i know! I'm dam frustrated as i still can't swim but i'm listening to my surgeon and leaving it for now!!

The weather is getting better though, maybe you can take some time out and see some places and enjoy the sunshine!!

I understand that frustration....wanting to do things but having to restrain from doing it incase you cause more problems....but sadly that is the case with a Corneal Graft.......and last thing you want is sutures to start coming open at such an early stage...especailly with a Full Penetrating graft.......Sit back, put your feet up, and delegate lol

I was reading through your posts and ticking off yourresposnes against mine. But frustrating as it is and trapped as you may feel, the reading from your pinhole sounds very promising. The last thi8ng you want to do is put your recovery at jeopardy.

Take things easy for a bit longer.

Thanks for the replies.

I know I have to be sensible and yes I will be sensible and sit and rest as at the end of the day that cornea is the most valuable gift I have been given and I am not going to risk it.

Have been going out for a gentle walk most days to get some fresh air and a change of scenery which has been good.

Just back from my GP - signed me off for another two weeks and then she put another appointment in the diary so I have to go back in two weeks time.

I have plenty to do - just hate not being able to do other stuff that needs doing because SWMBO has long hours and needs the help.
