Hi All,
First time here and hopefully more posts to come!
On Oct 12th 2012 I was going to pick up my RGP contacts from Royal Berkshire Hospital however, I got a call in the morning and was advised my appointment had to be cancelled as the orthoptist was off sick. They said they will reschedule my appointment but didn't specify when. I am so frustrated by this as now, I have to keep on waiting and there is no information on their website what the policy is when cancellations happens.
Can anyone advise where patients stand when the hospital cancel appointments? I really don't want to wait another 2 months (so far been waiting 4 months to get the contacts) or if it's possible to speak to my GP and bring the appointment forward?
Thanks in advance.
Mas

Re: Appointment Cancelleation
Hi Mas and welcome to the forum,
We've probably all had this happen to us at one time or another, though it's particularly frustrating when you're waiting for your first set of contacts (and presumably your spectacle vision isn't too good). But of course, hospital staff are just as likely to get ill as the rest of us - in fact probably more likely considering the unhealthy environment they work in!
It's very early days yet for the rescheduled appt to arrive - and of course it depends on whether the member of staff was just off for a day or two or is going to be off for longer. But it would certainly do no harm to talk to your GP if you haven't heard anything by the end of next week.
I hope you won't have to wait too long.

Hi Anne,
Thanks for the response
. Yup you're right my specs haven't been much help recently. Totally understand that people get ill etc, would be good if there was someone else to do the job, but I guess it's just one of those things.
Hopefully they should get back to me next week, if not I'll speak to my GP and take it from there.
Cheers!
