Contact Lenses -- PMD and Kertaconus

Postby allanw » Thu 22 Jul 2010 12:00 pm

I feel obligated to share how well my recently fitted contact lenses have saved my vision. I have been wearing the So2 Clear Lens (made by company Art Optical in the United States) for about a year now and my vision is almost perfect again. I have tried EVERY contact lens -- all the hybrid and even trial PMD lenses from Synergeyes. All of them irritated my cornea because of my pellucid marginal degeneration coupled with Kertaconus. The Clear Lens is very comfortable and my irritation is completely gone. I wear them over 12 hours a day with no issues. I am not a blog type person, but I feel obligated to let people know that these contacts are awesome and that i may help somebody else. To to sound wierd, but they changed my life. I am very grateful and I am just trying to help others now.

Lastly, I had terrible problems with RGP solutions. My blue eyes tend to be very sensitive to solutions --- as I later found out that most people with blue eyes tend to have similar problems. The only solutions that work well are made by Labob. They are allergy free and the Eye Wetting Drops are great!!! No other lubricant feels good with no allergy effect.

Please share my story and good luck to all of us stuck in this mess. I almost tried the Riboflavin Cross Linking about 3 years ago when it first came out. Now, I can see great and comfortable. Give them a shot. This blog is a pay back to my lenses who saved my vision.

Welcome to the forum, Allan, and thank you for sharing your experience. SoClear lenses are now available in the UK as well and I know some people on this forum have tried them. And I think we have other people with PMD on the forum, so this will be encouraging for them. As we all know, a lens that works brilliantly for one person doesn't necessarily work for someone else. But it's great that there are so many more good contact lens options for people with KC and similar conditions.
