UPDATE TIME

So as you may remember I got no where with my RGP's due to alergic reaction to them, and the last lens appointment I had leaving me ratehr annoyed and upset with the system and wanting to curl up in a ball and cry myself to sleep.

Today I saw consultant for the first time since august (love the NHS saying 3 months time you will see him again) they forgot to send a appointment through.

Anyways saw him (well he was a fuzzy blur but I could tell by the voice it was him) he asked how I was getting on, if my specs were doing anything so I said the truth 'nopes all they do is make me apparently according to some appear to look intelectural but do diddly squat for my vision, just prevent quite as many headaches'

He started to dictaate a letter for uni to tell them 'oi she needs more support' (erm really my nagging to them is slowly getting me somwehre, maybe a kick up the butt from him will help, well can't make things any worse)

Then he picked up the phone to ring the transplant co ordinatior to get me moved rapidly up the list

He says I will have 1st graft within the next 3 months, we shall 'see' if you excuse the pun ... hope so rather fed up of having to have the laptop zoomed into size 50 text and it 1" from my face ...

he wants to see me weekly until I get said first transplant, says I have more scaring on cornea than last time he saw me and more since the last time I was seen by anyone and my uber sensitivity to light is troubling him ...

Thanks Tom. I told my mum on the phone earlier and got told 'why don't you wait till teh summer when you have finished uni?' erm simple I CANT CARRY ON AS I AM AS ALL ABOUT ME IS BEING AFFECTED BY MY INABILITY TO SEE!

I had to get through uni with RGPs, i did product design in which a lot of the course was done in the oilly, dirty, VERY dusty workshop.
I had to secretly shower 3 times a day to see myself through without too much pain.
Its not an easy thing, and because its not visible to everyone else, they dont think about it affecting you.
I am now 15 months post op and have just had stitches out, on 2-4 weeks recovery.
The emotional effect that having the op had on me is unbelievable, it seemed like there really was that light at the end of the tunnel, something that my friends or parents could not relate to. I hope that you feel the same kind of progression when you go in.
I'm sure you will have the support and care of everyone here on the forums.

Thanks Tom, my husband, his family and our friends are all incredibly supoortive of everything which I do . Just find it hard as non of our close friends locally or family (a very good friend of mine via teh net) has KC and a few other health differences that I also have so we text a lot and chat online a fair bit, she is due her new cornea on feb 8th, so shel be up front and tell me all once she has had it... just fear of the unknown in a wya plays on my mind a lot.

Uni are terrible in terms of access (see my previous rants about the yukkiness)
