My CXL Experience

Postby djain3 » Thu 05 Nov 2009 1:45 pm

Hi Friends

I would like to share my CXL experience:

I got it done on 24/10/2009 at Shroff Eye Center at Delhi(India) .I was given time of 8 am but finally it started at 9 am in morning. It took complete one hour.

I was in operation theater lying on OT bed. :(

They gave me oxygen pipe. Covered my whole face except my right eye on which CXL was to be done. Then they clamped my eye with the clip. This thing was not very comfortable.

Then they dropped numbing drops in my eyes and after 5 minutes they removed my eye epithelium which was very uncomfortable to me. :x

Then they started dropping Riboflavin drops onto the cornea for 30 minutes in interval of 3-5 minutes.

After 30 minutes the UV light was directed to my eye for 30 minutes, in between doctor continue to dropping the Riboflavin in every 5 minutes.

I was getting bore and waiting for this process to complete. :?

Finally at 10 am this process was completed. Doctor put a soft lens in my treated eye and then bandaged my eye.

For next 2 hours everything was fine. After that the real pain came.

It was really horrible. Even painkiller didn't help me much first day.

And I couldn't sleep much even with the sleeping pill.

I slept for some 2 hours.

Next day pain was still there but painkiller helped a little.

After evening of second day pain reduced. And from 3rd day there was no pain. Doctor did check up of my eye on 2nd day and 3rd day. And then doctor called me again on 5th day when he removed the soft lens.

It was little odd when soft lens was removed. That feeling went away by night. My vision was hazy.

Today is 13th day. Vision is still hazy. I hope it will get better in next 7-10 days. And I will get back pre-operation vision.

Lets see. 8)

I have to meet again doctor on 11/11/2009 when Pentcam test will be done and then doctor wll check my eyes again.

Regards,
Deepak
