Kerasoft lens prescriptions.

Postby Elizabeth Mair » Sun 30 Sep 2007 8:26 am

I've been struggling with a kerasoft lens rotating for about 2 years and giving me erratic vision.
My optometrist decided to removethe cylinder from the lens to see what happens - I've now got consistant vision when wearing lenses, which is brilliant after a frustrating 2 years. As far as I understand the cylinder part of the lens is the design feature that corrects the astigmatism, so technically I should need this.
It has made a huge difference for me, so this might help other people with lenses that rotate.

Elizabeth,

I could never manage with my Kerasoft . It sounds like you have a good solution there to a problem: well done!

Elizabeth,

I think the people who developed the Kerasoft lens licence out the technology to other lens manufacturers. The issue you have with ill fitting soft lenses sounds the same as mine. When I mentioned it to the people who make Kerasoft they were unawareof the problem and having spent some time with them, I really feel either optoms do not feedbakc lens isues to the manufacturers or the lens manufacturers do not feed information back to the people they licence the technology from.

There are developemnts into soft lens technology which unfortunatly I can not give much detail except that the new materials being used feel really comfortable and the readings taken with new instrumentation really do help with identifying issues such as the rotaion we have found. I am confident when I next go and try out some lenses for them, they will have overcopme these and we will be a step closer to having a good robust soft lens for KC.

We need people to get involved in provinding their eyes to help so we get the most robust lens possible.

Anyone who is interested, please PM me and I will pass your details on.

Regards

Gareth

I also have a problem with my left Kerasoft lens rotating. I get a couple of seconds of excellent vision after blinking, only for the vision to slide out of of focus and between blinks the lens will just decide to sit on the eye randomly. The vision is actually worse than without the lens. Interestingly, I'm typing this with both lenses in and can't make out the text at all when looking through my left eye.

I've tried a normal, soft contact lens in my left in the past which did nothing to correct the visions. Do you reckon asking for the cylinder to be removed would help?

Needless to say any developments in KC soft-lens technology are a VERY good thing! What sort of participation is required to help with these 'top-secret' :D lenses Gareth?
