bubbles and sclerals....>:(

Hi all
Im having trouble with my left scleral lens at the minute every time i put it in i keep getting a huge bubble, it takes me a good 5/6 times to get it in successfully. I have recently had the fitting checked and its fine so thats not the problem, any tips and advice would be much appreciated as im having to get up earlier to allow for this ( as a student in the summer hols this is'n t good .......!)

Also as im sure we all do i have days when i get a little down on having to put these silly things in, i just wish i could get up and see instead of getting up and seeing a sea of blur and colour, does anyone think they'll be anything in the future to help us? sorry to ramble!

the way i put mine was keep my head looking towards the floor, fill the lens to the top with saline also keeping the lens horizontal and puting the lens in like that, but i didnt get a lot of air bubbles. are your lenses fenestrated? what kind of saline do you used, the pressurised can or normal bottle. i would have thought it was down to the lens fit to be honest? who fitted you with them?

what do you study and do you have a lot of problems with vision/lenses at college/uni?

yeah thats pretty much how i put mine in, its just one of those things i guess so i'm sticking with it! ken pullum fitted them and they have been checked in the last couple months so its all fine!. im at plymouth uni studying physio and i don't really have any trouble even if i do long days, its annoying putting them in first thing but hey you get over that! but its all good so far

What may be happening is that you are not looking at the floor with your head, just with your eyes. Us humans don't like pointing their heads at the floor, so it can take a bit of effort!

Look at the floor and make sure that your chin is on your chest as far as it will go. Then lean over and tuck your chin in even more. Then tuck it in further.

The alternative that some people do is to lie face down on the bed with your head dangling over the side. The problem is then reversed, as you have to keep your head up.

Good luck though, and let's hope your bubble problem is over soon.
