Yes!
Sometimes i think i should read more about KC in Wales and move back home!
This page is very interesting reading and what i would hope to see. I want to be seen by a friendly community optom and only have to be seen in hospital by my consultant.
Oh well ... hopefully one day i can stop paying privately for this.

Your experience of hospital optometry and mine must be vary far apart. At our hospital we are seen by extremely professional, friendly and experienced optometristw who uneerstand the difficulties of the KC eye.
They take a systematic approach to fitting the appropriate lens; eliminating options as they go. You can be sure that you will be seen at (or very close to) the appointment time. You see the same optometrist over a long number of visits, and when you need to go for refractions after surgery the same people are there, too.
It is like belonging to the family. AND it is on the National Health, with only the NHS rate being paid for lenses.
If you lived in Glasgow you would not be wishing for anything other than the excellent services we enjoy

Andrew,
Your experience is much the same as mine.
The lens fiting was done by a specialist in difficult KC lens fitting and I saw him or the first six months. The because all was well I was considerd normal management where I have been seeing my current optom for two years except for two visits to do with Kerasoft where I was seen by a lady who has more experience in those lenses.
Unless it is for anything different from the norm, I always get the same person. Only seen the specialist once and he said as long as the cornea stays healthy there is no need to see him. We have been in touch by corresponce and I have seen my notes and he has made comments so I know he sees them after I have seen the optom so he is aware of what is happening.
I like this set up as I am only taking up the optoms time and not the specialists as well.
