Contact lenses

Postby skg » Fri 05 Jan 2007 10:28 am

After years of problems with ill fitting lenses and ever changing prescriptions I recently decided to go for a free consultation for laser surgery - they told me that I had kerataconus. My opticians could not help me and referred me to my doctors, they in turn referred me to my local eye hospital. Just before Christmas it was confirmed that I do have kerataconus. I would like to know (or to be pointed in the right direction) details re the lenses offered in the UK and the best lenses for me. Please can you also let me know how I can find out which private practices in my area will give me a prescription and fit lenses for me.

None of our members has yet posted a KC friendly optom on the 'recommend an optometrist' section of our site, so can't help you with private practices. But if you ask your GP to refer you to the eye dept of the John Radcliffe, they will be able to assess your KC and fit you with the appropriate contact lenses.
