Rejection very worried.

Postby Anne B » Sun 31 Dec 2006 3:11 pm

Hi All,

I woke up yesterday morning with a scratcy feeling under my eyelid, but this passed.
Woke up today with same feeling, decided to go to my local hospital to get it checked out (they have a eye casulty there) I had a couple of loose stiches(not the main stiches that hold the graft) so they removed them, but the Dr i saw also said that i am having a rejection. I have got to take dexamethasone drops every hour.
I phoned my surgeon after i had been to the hospital and he said i could call him if anything changes tonight or tomorrow, and he will see me at Moorfields, he also thought it would be unlikly to be a rejection, he seemed to think it may be swelling were the stiches had come loose . I go back to my local hosp on Tuesday.
Feeling really worried and big time unhappy

Sweet I think went through a similar thing with her DALK and was gutted to think she might be the first to have a rejection. That too was loose stitches and irritation due to where they had been rubbing. I would agree with your main man that you have experienced the same thing.

You'll have to back off the partying

Anne,

Fingers and everything else crossed for u that its not rejection, but whatever it is, you have caught it early which is good.

I've woke up with a swollen eye lid and irritable eye this morning :? its a wee bit better just now, fingers crossed i dont have to spend new yrs day in casualty.

Anyway Anne, take it easy, and hope its just loose stitches.

Anne

Im not saying you are NOT having a rejection episode....but I have heard of a number of cases where people go to a local hospital and there told they are having a rejection....only to have found out there not........

How long has it been now?

Ok just saw another post of yours saying your 5 weeks...this could be classed as a case of Acute Rejecton...and is very rare.......if in doubt give them a buzz and get down there...as even early cases of rejection can be controlled and reversed

5 weeks tomorrow.
My eye doesn't look red, i still have the rubbing sensation even though the stiches have been removed. it feel like i have a lump in my eye.
I have to say the Dr i saw looked at my eye for ages before he said anything, what are they looking for?

They should have been looking for

1. redness
2. the rear of the eye to see if any of the light reflection is being blocked
3. swelling
4. any glazing around the central area
5. any mistiness apart from that the sutures

to name a few.......

Losse stitches cause a lot of eyelid irritation and the lumpiness is probably the sore spot left on the inside of the eye lid and will take a few days to get better. A bit like when you first had stitches in the cornea.

Any change to the vision Anne?

Fingers crossed that it's not rejection and stitch irritation, I really hope so Anne.

Louise, my vision hasn't changed, but i do feel like i have a slight blur to my eye. Sort of like when you have a bit of mucus in your eye!

my eye still feels the same today, and it looks a different shape to the other one. The iris ,pupil bit of the eye looks more rugby ball shape rather than round, this is something i noticed on Saturday and my brother noticed it last night!
I still feel really worried, i really wished i had gone to Moorfields yesterday instead of my local hospital :?
