Dear all,
Apologies if this is not an appropriate forum to post this issue on, but I was hoping someone could give some advice if possible. The astigmatism in my eyes has changed by -.75 to -2 in the space of 6 months. I have been seen by an ophthalmologist who checked the back of my eye and my cornea. Both of those are fine. Because of my age (early 20s), a history of allergic conjunctivitis, blepharitis and episcleritis, and because of the change in my astigmatism, the doctor suspected keratoconus. Having scanned my cornea though, the doctor said there was no evidence of my doctor's of keratoconus.
My ophthalmologist has suggested it is perhaps just an odd but not problematic change in eye prescription and that I should return to them if there is any other change in my prescription. Seeing as the change is odd though, I wonder if perhaps I do have keratoconus but it is at too early a stage to say? Having read some of the posts on this forum, the symptoms I have been having are similar. For example, having double vision, especially at night when the contrast is greater, whilst actually being able to see fine.
Does anyone know if there any conditions, other than keratoconus, which could cause such a rapid change in astigmatism? Thank you for any help anyone can give.

Re: Change in astigmatism
Hello TFS123 and welcome!
But I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question. The use of scans has meant that keratoconus is picked up earlier than it used to be before that technology was available. But you've obviously had a thorough check by the ophthalmologist and his advice to come back if things change again sounds good. Hopefully it's just a blip and you won't need to worry.
