FAQ; Can I wear contact lenses at theme parks?

Postby GarethB » Tue 18 Apr 2006 5:52 pm

OK, I know John will have to move this but as summer is fast approaching and this question will come up again!

Basically YES you can wear your corneal or scleral lenses while at a theme park. If you are worried about water getting in your eyes from the water rides, then safety glasses (dirt cheap from any DIY store) will sufice.

I have spent 8 hours tryingout all manner of rides including free fall and my right len prone to moving about my eye at will and I can blink this out stayed exactly where it was meant too with no problems at all.

Roll on summer and more fun filled days.

Depends on the style, the ones I wera look like dark wrapround snglasses as I am quite photophobic too.

So no, it does not look strange at all.

Yep...even on terrific water drops....and roller costers...done all Florida rides...lots of screaming...but lenses stayed in place....if too terrifying you'll have your eyes shut tight anyway!!!!!

I'm told they don't let you down diamond mines if you're wearing contact lenses.
At least,t hey don't in Kimberley - but that is a very deep diamond mine and it has to do with the pressure that far down.

I have spent time in theme parks wearing contact lenses (at the time I wore RGP's)

Some rides I did not go on, but like Gareth I wore dark rap-around safety glasses, so my lenses and eyes were protected from both the injurious rays of the sun and other hazzards.

I was in Disneyland Paris earlier this year as part of a school trip, was the first time I went on roller coasters with my lenses. I didnt wear glasses or anything, and it was all fine... Although wearing wrap round glasses is probably your safest bet!
