Andrew
I think the treatment is pretty much the same for the various types of cataract - it's the point at which the decision is made to operate that differs. Much depends I understand on the extent that the cataract is having on the individual's daily life. The type of introcular lens that is inserted is also important. There was an excellent article about cataracts in the Times last year which I will try and find and get to you somehow. If I can't retireve the online version, and can find the paper one (I'm pretty sure I kept it) I'll scan it in and send it to you via PM.

As an aside, when I had mine done, the nurses referred to me as "just a baby" - there were 8 of us being "done" that day and I reckon they all had at least 20 years on me! And I don't mind admitting I'm 52yrs young! So I guess you're just a babe too!

There's a happy thought.

There used to be a baker, in the town where I work, in which one of the assistants used to call me "son". she got a lot of trade from me! She would finish the transaction with "Will that be everything, son?" My wife got the same friendly familiarity with "will that be everything, lass".

Now that I am in my upper 50's, not too many people call me "son".
