Gareth....yes softperms sound exactly like what I have, I'm due to see my Optom soon so I'll ask advice.
On the subject of Haynes, it's actually in a village called Sparkford which is about 5 miles from Yeovil. The village is small but manages to boast an excellent pub (the Sparkford Inn), a fine campsite (http://www.information-britain.co.uk/sh ... e_ID=20682), and of all things a flipping great MacDonalds. The reason for this is that it sits on a trunk road, the A303 London to the S West main route.
As for B&B's, there is a Travelodge just a few miles up the road at a place called Podimore if that suits you?

When I wore my Softperms years back I used Protein removing tablets which were for ALL lenses..soft and hard......I cant recall the name of them........I had also used PR tablets which were for RGPs only and I didnt have a problem back then....(with the agreement of my optician)..may be worth while speaking with your fitter?

Hehe ok no worries!! LOL!! Stress over! Cleaned my lens REALLY well with saline and then added conditioning solution and put it in. Now i have brilliant vision, no streaking or smudges and it hasn't been foggy all day, so i am very impressed!
Yes i will be doing this again, though maybe not as often as Gareth does his! Hehe once a week sounds a little obsessive to me!!!! Maybe once a month will be fine

However, once a week is not obsessive, its actually the manufacturers reccomendation!
Obviously, it does depend on how much protein you build up, but keeping the lens cleaned this way means that not only do you have better vision, the oxygen supply through the lens is kept as high as possible, because the protein build up also reduces oxygen transmission.
Wearing lenses piggyback, this is even more important.

Have not got a pot big enough for the car, but I do use the ultra pure water we have here to actually clean it
Other than a manufacturers recomendation, if I have worn my lenses for a long time over 5 - 7 days, the clarity of vision towards the end of the day does go down slighty.
With my first lenses 20 years ago, I could get away with once a month.
