I was diagnosed with KC back in 1980, and after over 30 years havent noticed any significant change in my syptoms- i get a distinct secondary image (only really visible with a bright light source in dark conditions (tail lights of a car in front is typical).
What i continue to find is questions over the stability of my eye tests in particular the axis for astigmatism.
I live in Wokingham and would like to find an optician with experience with KC - as mine is quite slight i dont think the octhalmolgists i have seen take any account of it (not that there is much they could do I suppose in any case....)
Maybe its good for some recently diagnosed, to find that some cases dont change over many years...
So in summary does anyone know of a good optician in Berkshire.
Thanks, in advance Roy

Hello Roy and welcome,
It is good to hear from someone whose KC has stayed more or less stable for over 30 years. I take it that you've never needed to move to contact lenses to get good vision? I've looked at our KC friendly optom list http://www.keratoconus-group.org.uk/optoms/index.php but sadly there's no one in Berkshire on it - the nearest would be a practice in Esher in Surrey. So unless someone else here has any suggestions, it might be a question of ringing round some opticians to see if any have a particular interest in KC. Alternatively, you could maybe ask your GP for a referral to the Royal Berkshire in Reading and ask for a refraction there (optometrists who specialise in KC tend to be concentrated in hospital eye clinics).
