Hi all,
I was diagnosed with KC in both eyes about 6 months ago and was first told I had an astigmatism about 2 1/2 years ago. Since that time I have been wearing glasses with relatively few problems. I have had to have an increasing prescription more or less every 6 months, but on the whole glasses gave me acceptable vision. However, in the past couple of weeks, I have found it really difficult to do computer work or do much reading at all, which has resulted in me having to take time off work. I have also been told by my opticians that I cannot get a stronger prescription for my glasses now as the eye tests showed it isn't making a difference.
I have been recommended by a consultant to have cross-linking done on both eyes and I will probably do that over the next few weeks - but I was told this before the recent deterioration in my vision.
Obviously I'm aware that over time with KC, glasses just don't become suitable and contact lenses work much better. So I'm very much hoping that an eventual move to contact lenses (such as Kerasoft) will improve my vision again and allow me to read properly (and most importantly of all, allow me to go back to work).
For those who made the transition from glasses to contact lenses, I have a couple of questions:
1) Was there a notable improvement in your vision when you moved to lenses?
2) Although cross-linking will likely halt the progression of KC in both of my eyes, does it also make it any easier to see with contact lenses (I had previously experimented with soft lenses provided by my local hospital but they didn't seem to work very well - possibly the measurements were wrong).
Many thanks for those who can help with these questions.

James, welcome to the forum.
My answer to question 1 is that my move to contact lenses produced an immediate improvement in my eyesight. In fact the difference was so marked that was seeing details with my lenses on that I think I had never seen before.
I'm afraid that I cannot answer your second question.
Every good wish.
