possible outcome of meeting?

Hi all, hope your all enjoying the september weather, especially now the end of hayfever hell... Just writing to ask what I may expect from a possible meeting I have coming up with a transplant specialist? Basically I have been havin on going problems and it emerged that my consultant has stated wearing contact lens was going to be difficult as my eyes are quite steep, especially my left, I was told that they were the last result before a possible operation and the reason for me delaying any operation is simply finance, i can not afford to be out of work...

I hope the end of the hayfever season might mean that wearing your contact lenses becomes a bit more bearable. Steep cones don't have to be a bar to contact lenses - scleral lenses (the ones that cover the whole eye) can be made to cope with all sorts of shapes and sizes. Even mini sclerals or SoClears might help. Transplant specialists tend to suggest transplants! Though of course, that may be the most sensible option in some cases. But it's worth asking whether a different type of lens might do the trick. As for time off work, you'd be entitled to sick leave after any op. Or are you self-employed? People vary in the length of time they need off according to the type of work they do. But many here have gone back to work after 2 or 3 weeks after a transplant so it doesn't have to be an age.

For my second transplant, I managed to encompass the whole time within annual leave. Just be careful not to put too much strain on your eye when you get back to work.

If you do any 'heavy work'; best to get somebody else to do the lifting for a bit. In all this be guided by the ophthalmologist and the nursing team at your hospital

Hi all, hasn't the year gone so fast.... Well first thanks for the messages of support, and therefore just thought I would update my on going situation, just so if any of you have a very similiar problem it does enlighten things a little, Number 1, I managed to see my Opthomolgist, who told me what my problem is, being my left contact lens in which is steeper, is failing to have tears upon it, and because I work in a trade, in which as fine dust that also irritates it, I have been using the Optrex eye spray, expensive I know but it has helped, I have an appointment to see my eye consultant in which is the 17th of November, who is the surgern, I have been told that he will possible prescribe me some drops to help me with this situation... I shall keep you informed...

hi all, just to update this page, I work in upholstery in which can be heavy, I spoke to the surgern who said it is looking now like a opperation, have an appointment in three months to see him again and was told i could be off work up to three months, if this is the case does anybody know if i could get a little financial help, such as council tax freeze as i do live alone
